THIS STATEMENT HAS BEEN PREPARED TO HELP THOSE WITH DISABILITIES TO DECIDE WETHER OUR ACCOMODATION WILL BE ACCESSIBLE TO THEM.
We realise it is not only disabled people who benefit from inclusive access to buildings.Others who directly or indirectly benefit include the elderly,families with children under the age of five years,careers and the friends and relatives who accompany people with disabilities.
There is no lift in the building.
The car park is immediately in front of Walnut Lodge,with a slight slope towards the road.There is parking space for five vehicles,and also near to the front door there is a parking space which can be made available for disabled guests.
There is one step 6cm when entering the porch.A further step 12cm when entering the main front door.The door bell is situated on the left hand side 150cm up.The front door leads directly into the reception hall and guest lounge with seating,also the dining room.
Flooring throughout the Walnut Lodge is carpet other than the ensuites,which are all wooden laminate flooring.The television in the guest lounge has teletext so subtitles can be used also freeview and dvd player for guest use.
A banister rail is fitted to the left hand side of the stairs.The stairs to first floor are 16cm high,25cm deep,88cm wide,there are 14 steps to the half landing(208cmx135cm ) and a further six steps to the first floor.
Walnut Lodge has a ground and first floor.We have a double/twin and a single bedroom on the ground floor.All of our other bedrooms are on the first floor,all rooms benefit from ensuite shower rooms,kettles with tea/coffee making facilities,hairdryers,freeview tv,clock radio,luggage racks and seating.
Assistance with luggage is available.
Fire exits are clearly identified.
We do not accept pets other than service dogs.

Wheel chair hire is available locally at Shop Mobility,Lymington Road,Torquay.( next to library ) 01803 380982.Booking is advisable.

Buses-Stagecoach 01803 664500.We are on a bus route,No 32,and the bus stop is approx 250 metres from Walnut Lodge.Timetables are available for guests.
Trains-Wales & West Disabled Journeys Helpline 0845 3003005.Torquay Station is suitable for disabled passengers but Torre Station is NOT suitable as it has difficult low platform access.We are in easy reach of Torquay train station.
